In February 1939, General Guderian undertook the transformation of light divisions into tank divisions and the elimination of infantry support brigades. One of these brigades was "absorbed" by the 5th Regiment; two more remained to be distributed. Therefore, it is not true that the light divisions were disbanded as a result of the experience of the Polish campaign of 1939. According to Guderian's plan, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th regiments were to remain unchanged, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th were to be transformed into (respectively): 6th, 7thon the 8th, 8th and 9th. The new divisions, by necessity, had tank brigades consisting of a regiment and a separate armored battalion: the 6th Infantry Division - the 11th Polish Armored Division (in this case, it was necessary to form two new tank divisions), but this was facilitated by the acquisition of Czech tanks, known in Germany as PzKpfw 35 (t), and trained production The prototype tank line, named PzKpfw 38 (t) in Germany. However, plans to convert light divisions into armored divisions were implemented only in October-November 1939. Already in February 1936, the command of the XVI Army Corps (Tank General Oswald Lutz) was formed in Berlin, which included the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Army Corps. He was supposed to be the main striking force of the Wehrmacht. In 1938, Lieutenant General Erich Hoepner commanded this corps. However, the corps did not survive the fighting in this form.
In the period from July to August 1939, German troops were transferred to their starting positions to attack Poland. At the same time, in July, the command of a new rapid corps, the 19th Army Corps, was formed, with General Heinz Guderian as its commander. The corps headquarters was formed in Vienna, but soon it moved to Western Pomerania. At the same time, the 10th company was formed in Prague, which, by necessity, was incomplete and was part of the brigade in the Polish campaign of 1939. The DPanc self-made armored division Kempf (commander Major General Werner Kempf) was formed on the basis of the headquarters of the 4th BPanc, from which the 8th Polish Armored Division was transferred to the 10th Infantry Division. Thus, the 7th Polish Armored Division remained in this division, which additionally included the SS regiment "Deutschland" and the SS artillery regiment. In fact, this division also had a brigade strength. By the way, the latter was formed four days before the war in Opole, as part of the third wave of mobilization.
